Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

I'm raising this as a concern as a person with neurological vision problems, and the most recent update of Claude Code on the Windows app, with the high contract themes, i.e. white text on black background, and vice-versa.

This makes it really hard for me to use the app in long sessions, as it causes headaches. This is the worst update Anthropic has made since I started transitioning from OpenAI to Anthropic with my projects, and I'm a paying Max user.

I always use dark mode in apps as it lessens the strain on my eyes, but this update is a clusterf*ck for a person with visual disabilities.

Proposed Solution

Make it possible to adjust the contrast in the Claude Code tab. This should be an easy fix. Or add an additional dark and light theme, that is not high contrast.

Alternative Solutions

There are none.

extent analysis

TL;DR

Adjusting the contrast in the Claude Code tab or adding an additional dark and light theme with lower contrast could alleviate the issue.

Guidance

  • Consider adding a theme option with lower contrast to reduce eye strain for users with visual disabilities.
  • Evaluate the current high contrast theme implementation to identify potential adjustments that could make it more accessible.
  • Reach out to the development team to discuss the feasibility of implementing a contrast adjustment feature in the Claude Code tab.
  • Explore existing accessibility features in the app to see if there are any settings that can be adjusted to mitigate the issue.

Example

No code snippet is provided as the issue is related to a feature request rather than a code-specific problem.

Notes

The solution may require collaboration with the development team to implement the necessary changes. Additionally, it's essential to consider the needs of users with various visual disabilities to ensure the solution is effective.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: The development team should consider adding an additional theme option with lower contrast to address the issue, as it is a critical concern for users with visual disabilities.
