What's Wrong?

Claude Code hangs on my mac

Terminal (I tried Homebrew and native): I type in "claude"/"claude --debug"/"claude chat", select the text style, select "1. Claude account with subscription". The terminal window says " ✽ Opening browser to sign in…". The browser opens showing "Authorize" and "Decline" and throws a 405 ("Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 405 (Method Not Allowed)"). Clicking "Authorize" does nothing. The terminal window hangs. I have to kill the process (CTL+C doesn't stop it).

Desktop app: Claude chat works. Claude Code hangs.

Note: "claude auth login" and "claude --version" work just fine

What Should Happen?

  • After hitting "Authenticate" the browser window is supposed to show "Build something great".
  • The terminal is supposed to show "Login Successful. Press Enter to Continue..."

Steps to Reproduce

  • Open terminal
  • cd project directory
  • type in "claude"
  • select a text style and press enter.
  • "1. Claude account with subscription" and press enter.

  • Tried Safari and Chrome.
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Claude Code various times.
  • Tried Claude Desktop, Homebrew and native.
  • I was getting the same error in version 2.1.142
