Problem Statement

Summary

The Claude Code VSCode extension shows permission prompts and UI labels in English regardless of the VSCode display language setting.

Current behavior

With VSCode set to português (Brasil) as the display language, the extension still shows:

  • "Do you want to proceed with PowerShell?"
  • "Yes" / "No" / "Tell Claude what to do instead"
  • "Esc to cancel"
  • Tool action labels: "Edit", "Modified", "Bash", etc.

Expected behavior

These strings should be localized (or at minimum follow the VSCode display language). PT-BR support would be a great start.

  • VSCode display language: português (Brasil)
  • OS: Windows 11
