What's Wrong?

Claude Code is repeatedly sending blank/empty responses during conversations. After making tool calls or during normal interaction, the response comes through as completely blank, forcing me to restart the chat and re-paste context.

This happens multiple times within the same working session, not just once. It appears to be a consistent issue rather than random.

Impact: Breaks workflow continuity, loses context, requires manual workarounds.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Use Claude Code normally in a conversation
  2. Interact with the agent (ask questions, make edits, run tools)
  3. At seemingly random points, response comes back as blank text
  4. Have to restart chat and re-establish context

Environment:

  • Claude Code web app (Visual Studio Code Add-on)
  • Windows 11 Pro
  • Latest Claude Code version

What Should Happen?

Claude should return complete text responses with no blank messages. All agent interactions should produce readable output that maintains conversation continuity.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Code web app (in visual studio code)
  2. Start a new conversation or continue existing conversation
  3. Ask Claude to perform various tasks (tool calls, edits, questions)
  4. At random intervals during normal interaction, response comes back completely blank
  5. No text output, no error message, just empty response
  6. User must restart chat and re-paste context to continue
