Fix / Workaround

Bug Description

The main Dispatch conversation shows "Desktop appears offline. Will run when it reconnects." on the mobile client, even when the desktop app is actively running and Chrome is open. The issue appeared in conjunction with the platform-wide outage on April 15, 2026.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Desktop on PC with Dispatch enabled
  2. Open Claude mobile app → Dispatch
  3. Mobile shows: "Desktop appears offline. Will run when it reconnects."
  4. Desktop itself also shows the same offline message in the Dispatch thread

What I've Already Tried

  • Confirmed Chrome is open and claude.ai tab is active
  • Confirmed desktop is awake and not sleeping
  • Hard refreshed the Dispatch tab

Expected Behavior

Main Dispatch conversation should be reachable from the mobile client when desktop is awake and Chrome is running.

Actual Behavior

Dispatch main thread permanently shows as offline. This appears to be a server-side relay/session issue, not a local configuration problem — consistent with the diagnosis in #45937 and #45962.

Related Issues

  • #45937 — Dispatch main conversation permanently offline despite working Cowork tasks
  • #45962 — Dispatch shows "desktop appears offline" on macOS 1.1617.0 despite app running

What Should Happen?

When the desktop is awake, Chrome is open, and the user is logged in on both devices, the Dispatch main conversation thread should show as online and be reachable from the mobile client.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue might be related to a server-side relay/session problem, and checking the status of related issues #45937 and #45962 for potential fixes or workarounds could be helpful.

Guidance

  • Review the related issues #45937 and #45962 to see if any fixes or workarounds have been suggested or implemented.
  • Verify that the desktop app and mobile client are properly configured and connected to the same account.
  • Check the Anthropic API status for any ongoing issues that might be causing the problem.
  • Consider reaching out to the developers or support team for further assistance, as the issue appears to be server-side.

Notes

The issue seems to be a regression, and the last working version is not specified. The problem might be related to the platform-wide outage on April 15, 2026.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Wait for the resolution of related issues #45937 and #45962, as they seem to be addressing similar problems.
