Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Using the latest version of the Claude Code terminal application on OSX, selecting multiple images from the Finder and dragging them as a stack to the Claude Code window results in only the first image appearing and uploading, rather than all of the images.

This is a regression as around a month ago, dragging a stack of images resulted in all images being recognized and uploaded.

This bug reproduces 100% of the time.

Incidentally, you also may wish to be made aware that sometimes dropping a single image fails entirely and instead replaces the pending prompt with the directory location of the image, which is quite frustrating but I can't provide instructions to reliably reproduce that one.

What Should Happen?

Expected behavior: - User selects 2 or more images from Finder

  • User drags images to prompt area of Claude Code TUI on OSX
  • User drops images by releasing the mouse cursor
  • Several images are recognized (terminal shows [Image 1][Image 2][Image 3])

Please let me know if I can provide any further information to assist in debugging this issue.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can likely be resolved by investigating the change in handling multiple image drops between the current version of Claude Code and the previous version where this functionality worked.

Guidance

  • Review the release notes and changelogs for version 2.1.110 to identify any changes related to image handling or drag-and-drop functionality.
  • Compare the current implementation of image drop handling with the previous version to identify potential regressions.
  • Test the application with different image formats and sizes to see if the issue is specific to certain types of images.
  • Consider adding logging or debugging statements to the image drop handling code to gain more insight into what's happening when multiple images are dropped.

Example

No code example can be provided without more information about the internal workings of the Claude Code application.

Notes

The provided information suggests a regression, but without access to the codebase or more detailed logs, it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. The additional issue with single image drops sometimes replacing the prompt with the directory location may be related or a separate issue.

Recommendation

Apply a workaround by using an alternative method to upload multiple images, such as selecting them individually, until the issue can be fully investigated and resolved. This approach allows users to continue working with the application while the development team addresses the regression.
