Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

After clicking the Code tab, the app briefly shows a "What's your next schedule?" UI (calendar/schedule loading screen) and then crashes within a few seconds. The window closes completely.

What Should Happen?

Environment

  • App version: Claude Desktop 1.3109.0 (MSIX: Claude_1.3109.0_x64__pzs8sxrjxfjjc)
  • Install path: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Claude_1.3109.0_x64__pzs8sxrjxfjjc
  • OS: Windows
  • Install method: Downloaded .exe installer from claude.ai/download (resulted in MSIX install)

What's wrong After clicking the Code tab, the app briefly shows a "What's your next schedule?" UI (calendar/schedule loading screen) and then crashes within a few seconds. The window closes completely.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Claude Desktop
  2. Click the Code tab
  3. A schedule/calendar loading UI briefly appears
  4. App crashes and closes

What works fine

  • Chat tab: works normally
  • Cowork tab: works normally

Troubleshooting already attempted

  • Sign out and sign back in → crash persists
  • Updated to v1.3109.0 (officially marked as resolved) → crash persists
  • No Google Calendar or other connectors are connected

Expected behavior Code tab should load normally without crashing.

Note This issue persists even after the v1.3109.0 fix that was announced as resolved on status.claude.com. The fix may only apply to Win32 installations, not MSIX.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue might be related to the MSIX installation of Claude Desktop, and trying an alternative installation method or checking for updates specific to MSIX installations could help resolve the crash.

Guidance

  • Verify if the issue is indeed specific to MSIX installations by checking if other users with Win32 installations are experiencing the same problem.
  • Check the official Claude Desktop support channels or forums for any known issues or workarounds related to MSIX installations.
  • Consider reinstalling Claude Desktop using a different installation method (e.g., Win32 installer) to see if the issue persists.
  • Look for any updates or patches specifically released for MSIX installations, as the fix mentioned might only apply to Win32 installations.

Notes

The provided information suggests that the issue might be related to the installation method, but without further details or error logs, it's challenging to pinpoint the exact cause. The fact that the issue persists after updating to v1.3109.0, which was supposed to resolve similar issues, indicates that the problem might be specific to MSIX installations.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Try reinstalling Claude Desktop using a different installation method (e.g., Win32 installer) to see if the issue persists, as the current MSIX installation might be the cause of the problem.
