Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I'm not sure if I'm using the latest version of Claude Code anymore honestly. Claude upgraded and showed me this.

MacOS 26.4.1

Was 2.1.124 released and then pulled? I've only ever done updates with claude --upgrade.

What Should Happen?

It probably should've left me on 2.1.124 unless 2.1.124 was recalled. In that case it should've been reverted to 2.1.123 but called 2.1.125 or a message should inform the user about why the upgrade was a downgrade

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue might be resolved by checking the version history to see if version 2.1.124 was indeed recalled or reverted, and then manually installing the intended latest version.

Guidance

  • Verify the version history of Claude Code to confirm if 2.1.124 was recalled or reverted.
  • Check for any official announcements or release notes regarding version 2.1.124 and its potential recall.
  • If 2.1.124 was recalled, try installing the next available version (e.g., 2.1.125 if available) using claude --upgrade or a manual installation method.
  • Consider reaching out to the developers or support team for clarification on the versioning issue and guidance on the best course of action.

Notes

The issue seems to be related to a potential version recall or reversion, but without more information from the developers or official channels, it's difficult to provide a definitive solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Manually check version history and install the intended latest version if available, as it seems there might have been an issue with the automatic update process.
