openclaw - 💡(How to fix) Fix [Bug]: Clean install of new versions since 2026.5.xx is not possible.

Summary

On fresh installed windows 10 version is not possible to run gateway after completed install or simply not possible co through onboarding openclaw. in some versions doctor works, in some versions i can not finisch doctor, it freeze in the same way as the onboard, on the end, after all settings or checks.

Tested both: Installation through script or simply node install:

• powershell + install.ps1
• npm i -g openclaw

Models: openai-codex/gpt-5.4 openai/gpt-5.4 openai/gpt-5.5

Tesed versions: v2026.5.22 - freeze on onboard, step "how you want to hatch your agent?" v2026.5.22-beta.1 - freeze after gateway start 2026.5.20
2026.5.19 2026.5.19-beta.2 2026.5.19-alpha.1 2026.5.1x-beta.x (different versions) 2026.5.12 - freeze on onboard launch

NOT TESTED on WSL2!!!

btw. Hermes agent + openai/gpt-5.5 on the same laptop works, but on WSL2

p.s. ANYBODY, are you able to install last openclaw on windows?

Steps to reproduce

1. Clean fresch install wersion os wondows 10, all patches.
2. run install script (powershell -c "irm https://openclaw.ai/install.ps1 | iex")
3. Try to finish onboard. (openai + telegram)
4. Try to run geteway.

Possible awaited errors:

1. Onboard not finisched in 9 hours.

2. Onboard finisched successfull but gateway freeze on start

3. Gateway starts successfull but freeze somehow after start, or their status is unknown.

4. Gateway starts but different log errors appears:

5. Not possible to run "daschboard" + error

6. Daschboard "runs" and shows contours of controls buttons without text.

7. Daschboard runs. On first schat freezed on some minutes, after apears:

8. Telegram. On first schat freezed on some minutes without any life signals, after apears: ⚠️ Something went wrong while processing your request. Please try again, or use /new to start a fresh session.

Expected behavior

Installed and worked neuwer version of openclaw, like it works with 2026.3.24.

Actual behavior

Neuwer version of openclaw not able to install or start.

Additional information

I try to migrate from 2026.3.24, but every time i install it back, because it is the last worked version. Tested on three laptops: Lenovo Yoga-15s (8 or 16gb) Huawei matebook (16gb + AMD Radeon) HP Pavillon (24gb Ram + integrated)
