Fix / Workaround

A workaround: when attaching a file you're unsure about, just glance at the path in the @-autocomplete before confirming — it shows the full path there. Once attached, it's gone.

What's Wrong?

When I drop a file such as myscript.sh in mac to cloud code app chat window, it shows only a .sh in chat window so I am not sure if I aded right file. It should show full filename, with path preferably.

see my chat - claude code suggested filing issue about this:

When I added the start-mac-asentaja.sh to chat it shows only as .sh in the message history. Often I wonder if I attached right script so it would be better to see what is the actual file/path

That's a Claude Code UI limitation — the file reference chips only show the filename, not the full path. There's no way to see the full path from the chip itself without opening it.

A workaround: when attaching a file you're unsure about, just glance at the path in the @-autocomplete before confirming — it shows the full path there. Once attached, it's gone.

Worth noting as feedback to Anthropic — hovering the chip to show the full path would be a useful improvement.

It does not even show file name, just .sh

Right, even worse than I described — just the extension as a grey chip, no filename at all. Definitely worth reporting at github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues.
