Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

My colleague and I both have Claude Max subscriptions. He's sitting 2 meters from me. I have a 20x sub and he has a 5x sub. We both use the vscode extension. Both our extensions are updated to the latest 2.1.96

When he types /context or /models it shows that he's using Opus 4.6 with 1M tokens.

When I do the exact same it shows me Opus 4.6 with 200K tokens.

We're both using the subscription not the API.

What is going on??

What Should Happen?

We should both have the same.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The discrepancy in token usage between two users with different subscription plans may be due to a misconfiguration or a bug in the Claude Code extension, and verifying the subscription settings and checking for any plan-specific limitations is necessary.

Guidance

  • Check the subscription settings for both users to ensure that the correct plan is being used and that there are no plan-specific limitations on token usage.
  • Verify that the Claude Code extension is properly configured to recognize the subscription plans and their corresponding token allocations.
  • Compare the settings and configurations between the two users to identify any differences that could be causing the discrepancy.
  • Consider reaching out to the Claude Code support team to investigate potential bugs or issues with the extension.

Notes

The issue may be specific to the Claude Code extension or the Opus model, and further investigation is needed to determine the root cause. The fact that the issue is a regression suggests that a previous version of the extension or model may have handled subscription plans and token usage correctly.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Verify subscription settings and configurations, and reach out to the Claude Code support team for further assistance, as the issue may be related to a bug or misconfiguration rather than a versioning problem.
