extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue is likely related to a regression in Claude Desktop version 1.3036.0, causing the Cowork feature to break after an auto-update.

Guidance

  • Verify that the issue persists after a full reinstall and VM bundle reset, as the user has already attempted this step.
  • Try downgrading to the previous version of Claude Desktop to confirm if the issue is indeed a regression.
  • Check for any known issues or updates on the Anthropics GitHub page or release notes for version 1.3036.0.
  • If possible, test Cowork on a different platform or environment to isolate the issue.

Notes

The lack of information about the last working version and additional details limits the ability to provide a more specific fix. The user has already searched existing issues and is using the latest version, which suggests that this is a newly introduced bug.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Downgrade to the previous version of Claude Desktop until a fix is available, as the issue is confirmed to be a regression and the previous version worked as expected.
