What's Wrong?

[BUG] Cowork tab missing after update on Windows 11 Pro

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported for this version/platform combination
  • I am using the latest version of the Claude desktop app

What's Wrong? The Cowork tab is completely missing from the Claude Desktop application after the latest auto-update. It does not appear anywhere in the interface. The Cowork section is visible in Settings, but the tab itself is absent from the navigation.

Expected Behaviour The Cowork tab should be present and accessible in the top navigation bar alongside Chat and Code.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Claude Desktop on Windows 11 Pro
  2. Observe that the Cowork tab is absent from the navigation
  3. No error message is displayed — the tab is simply not there
  4. Restarting the app and rebooting the machine does not resolve the issue

Environment

  • App version: 1.3109.0 (35cbf6)
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (x64)
  • Subscription: Pro
  • Cowork section: visible in Settings
  • Hyper-V / Virtual Machine Platform / Windows Hypervisor Platform: enabled

Additional Notes This issue appeared after the latest auto-update. The Cowork tab was previously visible.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The most likely fix for the missing Cowork tab in the Claude Desktop application on Windows 11 Pro is to review and potentially revert recent updates or configuration changes.

Guidance

  • Verify that the issue persists across different user accounts and system configurations to rule out user-specific or system-wide settings conflicts.
  • Check the application's settings and configuration files for any changes related to the Cowork tab's visibility, as the Cowork section is still visible in Settings.
  • Consider reaching out to the development team or support for guidance on potential fixes or workarounds, given the lack of error messages or logs.
  • If possible, try reinstalling the application or rolling back to a previous version where the Cowork tab was visible, as this is identified as a regression.

Notes

The issue seems to be specific to the Windows 11 Pro environment and the latest version of the Claude Desktop application, which limits the scope of potential fixes. Without access to the application's codebase or more detailed logs, providing a precise solution is challenging.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Given the regression nature of the issue and the absence of a clear technical fix from the provided information, the best course of action is to seek a workaround, such as using a different platform or awaiting an update from the developers.
