What's Wrong?

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported (as resolved)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Desktop

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11 Home (Build 26200.8037)
  • Claude Desktop: latest version (freshly reinstalled)
  • Plan: Pro
  • CPU: AMD (virtualization enabled in BIOS)

What's Wrong? The Cowork tab does not appear in Claude Desktop. Only "Chat" and "Code" tabs are visible. Cowork works fine on my other desktop PC with the same account.

Steps Already Taken

  • Installed Hyper-V manually (via .bat script)
  • Enabled Virtual Machine Platform ✅
  • Enabled Windows Hypervisor Platform ✅
  • Verified AMD-V is Enabled in BIOS ✅
  • Fully uninstalled Claude Desktop + deleted %APPDATA%\Claude and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Claude
  • Reinstalled latest Claude Desktop
  • Rebooted multiple times

Log Output (%APPDATA%\Claude\logs\cowork_vm_node.log) 2026-04-16 20:31:13 [info] [cleanupVMBundleIfUnsupported] yukonSilver not supported (status=unsupported), checking for stale bundle...

Expected Behavior Cowork tab should appear next to Chat and Code tabs.

What Should Happen?

The Cowork tab should appear in the Claude Desktop app alongside the "Chat" and "Code" tabs, allowing the user to access and use Cowork features.

This is confirmed working on another desktop PC using the same account, so the issue is specific to this Windows 11 Home environment.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Claude Desktop (latest version) on Windows 11 Home (Build 26200.8037)
  2. Log in with a paid Pro account
  3. Launch Claude Desktop
  4. Observe: Only "Chat" and "Code" tabs are visible — no "Cowork" tab

Additional steps already attempted to fix the issue: 5. Manually installed Hyper-V via .bat script (Windows 11 Home does not include Hyper-V by default) 6. Enabled "Virtual Machine Platform" in Windows Features 7. Enabled "Windows Hypervisor Platform" in Windows Features 8. Verified AMD-V virtualization is set to "Enabled" in BIOS 9. Fully uninstalled Claude Desktop 10. Deleted %APPDATA%\Claude and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Claude folders 11. Reinstalled latest Claude Desktop from claude.ai/download 12. Rebooted multiple times after each step

Result: Cowork tab still does not appear.

Note: Cowork tab works correctly on a separate desktop PC using the same account (Windows 11 Pro).

Log file (%APPDATA%\Claude\logs\cowork_vm_node.log): 2026-04-16 20:31:13 [info] [cleanupVMBundleIfUnsupported] yukonSilver not supported (status=unsupported), checking for stale bundle...

extent analysis

TL;DR

The most likely fix for the missing Cowork tab in Claude Desktop on Windows 11 Home is to investigate the "yukonSilver not supported" log message and ensure that the virtualization requirements for Cowork are met.

Guidance

  • Investigate the meaning of "yukonSilver not supported" in the context of Claude Desktop and Cowork, as it may indicate a specific virtualization or compatibility issue.
  • Verify that all virtualization features required by Cowork are enabled and properly configured on the Windows 11 Home system, considering the differences between Windows 11 Home and Pro.
  • Compare the system configurations and software versions between the working desktop PC (Windows 11 Pro) and the non-working PC (Windows 11 Home) to identify any discrepancies that might be causing the issue.
  • Consider reaching out to the Claude Desktop support team for further assistance, as the issue might be related to a specific requirement or compatibility issue not immediately apparent from the provided information.

Notes

The provided information suggests a potential issue with virtualization support or compatibility, given the "yukonSilver not supported" message and the differences in behavior between Windows 11 Home and Pro. However, without more specific details about the requirements of Cowork or the exact meaning of the log message, it's challenging to provide a definitive fix.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Given the complexity of the issue and the potential for it being related to specific system configurations or compatibility, the best course of action might be to seek further assistance from the Claude Desktop support team or to explore workarounds that could temporarily resolve the issue, such as using a different version of the software or adjusting system settings.
