After auto-updating to Claude Code desktop 1.6608.2 on macOS, user message bubbles in the Code view render on top of the preceding assistant response — the user bubble has no proper margin/background separation and visually overlaps the assistant's text to its right. Reproduces across all sessions, not tied to a specific repo or conversation.

Summary

After auto-updating to Claude Code desktop 1.6608.2 on macOS, user message bubbles in the Code view render on top of the preceding assistant response — the user bubble has no proper margin/background separation and visually overlaps the assistant's text to its right. Reproduces across all sessions, not tied to a specific repo or conversation.

Environment

  • App: Claude Code desktop (macOS)
  • Version: 1.6608.2
  • OS: macOS
  • View: Code tab

Expected behavior

Message bubbles stack vertically with clear spacing; user and assistant messages do not visually overlap.

Actual behavior

The user's message bubble is rendered overlapping the previous assistant message. The assistant's text is partially hidden behind the user bubble. Visible on every turn when scrolling session history.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Update to 1.6608.2 on macOS.
  2. Open any existing session in the Code view.
  3. Scroll through prior turns — overlap is visible on multiple messages.

Notes

This appears to be a regression introduced in the 1.6608.x release line, which already has other confirmed regressions (#57206 rewind, #57208 default browser, #57174 crash on macOS 26.4.1 beta).
