What's Wrong?

I have Web Search turned on in Desktop Claude on MacOS. But if I toggle a Quick Access window, Web Search is disabled for that chat.

What Should Happen?

Quick Access chats should start with the same defaults as chats in the main window.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be addressed by ensuring that the Quick Access chat inherits the default settings from the main window, specifically enabling Web Search.

Guidance

  • Verify that the Quick Access chat is properly configured to inherit settings from the main window.
  • Check if there are any specific settings or flags that need to be set for Quick Access chats to enable Web Search by default.
  • Investigate the Anthropic API documentation to see if there are any specific requirements or limitations for enabling Web Search in Quick Access chats.
  • Test if enabling Web Search manually in a Quick Access chat persists across sessions or if it needs to be enabled every time.

Notes

The issue seems to be related to the configuration of Quick Access chats in Desktop Claude on MacOS, and the fact that it never worked suggests that it might be a configuration or settings issue rather than a regression.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Until the root cause is identified, manually enabling Web Search in each Quick Access chat may be necessary.
