App version: Claude Desktop 1.3109.0 macOS version: macOS Sonoma 14.8.3 Device: MacBook Air Retina 13-inch, 2019 Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 8 GB RAM


Description of the problem:

Two issues occurring simultaneously:

  1. Part of the screen becomes invisible/blank during normal use.
  2. The app is stuck in an update loop — after every relaunch, the banner "Updated to 1.3109.0 — Relaunch to apply" reappears with a Relaunch button. This happens every single time, no matter how many times the app is relaunched. The update never finishes applying.

Both issues persist after all troubleshooting steps.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Claude Desktop
  2. The banner "Updated to 1.3109.0 — Relaunch to apply" appears at the bottom left
  3. Click Relaunch
  4. App restarts but the same banner reappears immediately — update never completes

What I have already tried:

  • Relaunched the app multiple times — update loop continues every time
  • Attempted to run the /doctor command — did not execute as a diagnostic tool
