What's Wrong?

There is a usage tracking mismatch between the Claude Code VS Code extension and the claude.ai web dashboard. Claude Code reported that my extra usage was fully exhausted, while the claude.ai Settings → Usage page simultaneously showed 43% of extra usage remaining (€43.05 spent out of my monthly cap). Related issues with the same root cause:

• #24727 — Claude Code reports 100% while dashboard shows 73%, $53 in extra usage charges
• #24335 — Claude Code blocked at 100% while claude.ai shows 73%
• #32544 — Extra usage charged despite available plan capacity
• #52240 — macOS Desktop Code tab blocks despite plan quota remaining

• Plan: Claude Pro
• Surface: Claude Code for VS Code (Extension ID: anthropic.claude-code)
• Extension version: 2.1.138
• OS: macOS
• Account region: Greece (EU) — billing in EUR

What Should Happen?

Expected Behavior

• Claude Code should continue working until the extra usage balance shown on the dashboard (43%) is actually exhausted. The two systems must be in sync.

Actual Behavior

• Claude Code blocked all usage and reported extra usage fully consumed, while the claude.ai dashboard simultaneously showed 43% of extra usage remaining. This resulted in unexpected workflow interruption and potentially incorrect billing.

Ιmpact

• Financial: Prepaid extra usage funds were reported as exhausted while significant balance remained according to the dashboard
• Workflow: Blocked from working despite having available balance.
• Trust: The billing/usage tracking inconsistency between VS Code extension and web dashboard is unacceptable for a paid service.

3. Continue working — at some point Claude Code reports extra usage is fully exhausted
4. Open claude.ai → Settings → Usage
5. Observe: Extra usage bar shows 43% used (significant balance remaining)

This issue occurred while using Claude Code embedded in VS Code (not CLI). The extra usage was purchased prepaid and the monthly cap was not reached according to the dashboard. No explicit consent was requested before extra usage credits were consumed, contrary to documented behavior.
