Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

In desktop app when using claude code, the left side navigation bar renders a large blank area to the right of the navigation bar that obscures the active claude code window. To use claude code window I need to collapse the navigation bar. This has been an issue on the last couple updates but wasn't a problem I had previously.

What Should Happen?

The side navigation bar should open and allow switching of sessions without blocking the main claude code window.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be temporarily worked around by collapsing the navigation bar to access the Claude code window.

Guidance

  • Verify that the issue persists across different Claude models to determine if it's model-specific.
  • Check if the issue occurs in other operating systems or platforms to isolate the problem.
  • Try resizing the navigation bar or the main window to see if it affects the blank area's size.
  • If the issue is indeed a regression, try to identify the specific version where it started occurring to help with debugging.

Notes

The provided information suggests a visual rendering issue, but without more details on the application's code or the Anthropic API, it's challenging to provide a definitive fix.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Collapsing the navigation bar allows access to the Claude code window, providing a temporary solution until the root cause is identified and addressed.
