Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

This relates specifically to Claude Desktop App Chat (not Claude Code)

Several projects are missing from "Project" tile view dashboard. When I search for these projects from the "Projects" dashboard, they CANNOT be found When I search using global search using magnifying glass just above the sidebar, they CAN be found (individual chats and whole projects) Once found using global search I can dive inside each and it appears they are all intact (just don't show, cannot be found and are not registered in the projects tile dashboard) Once found I can pin them to side bar and access this way When I open these "missing" projects I see the "back button" above is still labelled "<- All projects" and when clicked it takes me to projects tile dashboard but the project does not re-appear there. This issue is persistent across multiple PCs running same version of Desktop App This issues is not related to Web version. When accessing Claude via web, the projects are still listed in the Projects dashboard

What Should Happen?

I should be able to see all my projects in the dashboard view

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be temporarily worked around by using the global search function to find missing projects and pinning them to the sidebar for access.

Guidance

  • The problem seems to be specific to the Claude Desktop App Chat, where certain projects are missing from the "Project" tile view dashboard but can be found using the global search function.
  • Try using the global search to find the missing projects and pin them to the sidebar to access them as a temporary workaround.
  • Since this issue is not present in the web version, it might be related to a bug in the Desktop app version (1.2773.0).
  • To further troubleshoot, try checking if the issue persists after restarting the Desktop app or if there are any specific patterns to which projects are missing.

Example

No code snippet is provided as this issue seems to be related to the application's functionality rather than a coding error.

Notes

The exact cause of the issue is unclear, but it appears to be a regression introduced in a recent version of the Desktop app. Without more information or error logs, it's difficult to provide a definitive solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Since the issue is a regression and the exact cause is unknown, using the global search function to find and pin missing projects to the sidebar seems to be the most practical workaround until a fix is available.
