Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

In the previous version of the Cluade app, the ssh hostname was visible next to the prompt region. I connect to multiple remote ssh servers for varying reasons (often to test different architectures), so knowing which server I'm connected to is helpful. This was visible in the previous version of Claude and has been removed in the current version.

What Should Happen?

The remote ssh hostname should be visible. In the current version, it is not obvious to me how to see if I am running locally, remotely, and if remotely, on which machine.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can likely be resolved by checking the Claude Code configuration or UI for an option to display the remote SSH hostname, which was previously visible but has been removed in the current version.

Guidance

  • Review the Claude Code UI and settings to see if there's an option to enable displaying the remote SSH hostname, as it's possible that the feature has been moved or hidden behind a setting.
  • Check the release notes or changelog for version 1.2000 to 1.2278.0 to see if there are any mentions of changes related to SSH hostname display.
  • If no such option is found, consider reaching out to the Claude Code support or community to ask if this feature has been intentionally removed or if there's a workaround.
  • Verify that the issue persists across different remote SSH connections to rule out any server-specific issues.

Example

No code snippet is provided as the issue is related to the UI and configuration of the Claude Code app.

Notes

The issue seems to be a regression, and the user has confirmed that it worked in a previous version (1.2000). The current version (1.2278.0) does not display the remote SSH hostname, which was previously visible.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: The user should try to find an alternative way to display the remote SSH hostname, such as using a third-party plugin or script, until the feature is restored or an official workaround is provided by the Claude Code team.
