self.num_computed_tokens[req_indices_gpu].to(torch.int64)

req_indices_gpu contains indices for offloaded CPU blocks

torch.AcceleratorError: CUDA error: invalid argument

Root Cause

The V1 engine _prepare_inputs assumes num_computed_tokens is contiguous GPU memory, but OffloadingConnector marks certain indices for CPU residence. When req_indices_gpu includes these offloaded indices, invalid memory access occurs.

Compounded by: EAGLE3 (dual KV caches) + EP (8-way tensor parallel) create state inconsistency in the connector metadata.

Fix Action

Workaround

Remove --kv-offloading-size completely. With 8× H20-3e 141GB, sufficient VRAM exists for 32K+ context without offloading.

  • System: 2TB RAM, Ubuntu 22.04, NVIDIA Driver 570.86.15, CUDA 12.6/12.8
  • Interconnect: NV18 (18 NVLinks) fully connected mesh
  • Model: moonshot-ai/Kimi-K2.5 (compressed-tensors, ~72GB)
  • Draft model: moonshot-ai/Kimi-K2.5-Eagle3 (EAGLE3 speculative decoding)

Problem Description

When running Kimi-K2.5 with EAGLE3 speculative decoding and Expert Parallel (EP) enabled, the presence of --kv-offloading-size causes a fatal cascade failure (segfault → NVLink corruption → distributed crash) once context length exceeds the configured GPU block limit.
