What's Wrong?

Summary

The Windows desktop application does not recognize my active Claude Pro subscription.

After launching the desktop app and selecting "For personal use," I am redirected to the pricing page instead of being taken into my existing Pro account.

Environment

  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Desktop App: Latest version downloaded from https://claude.ai/download
  • Subscription: Claude Pro (active and working correctly in the web application)

Steps Already Completed

  • Verified that my Claude Pro subscription is active in the web application
  • Confirmed that the web version clearly shows "Pro Plan"
  • Uninstalled the desktop application
  • Deleted all remaining Claude and Anthropic folders from %LOCALAPPDATA% and %APPDATA%
  • Restarted Windows
  • Downloaded and installed the latest Windows desktop application
  • Repeated the login process
  • Checked for the ANTHROPIC_API_KEY environment variable in both user and system variables
  • Confirmed that ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is not present
  • Verified that no VPN or proxy is being used

Current Behavior

  1. Launch the Windows desktop application.
  2. Select "For personal use."
  3. The application redirects to the pricing page.

Expected Behavior

The desktop application should recognize my active Claude Pro subscription and open my existing account instead of showing the pricing page.

Additional Information

The issue appears to be related to account recognition or the desktop onboarding flow, since the Pro subscription works correctly in the web application.

What Should Happen?

The desktop application should recognize my active Claude Pro subscription and open my existing account instead of redirecting me to the pricing page.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install the latest Claude desktop application for Windows from https://claude.ai/download.
  2. Launch the desktop application.
  3. Sign in with an account that has an active Claude Pro subscription.
  4. Select "For personal use."
  5. The application redirects to the pricing page.

This behavior occurs consistently, even after a full clean reinstall and after deleting all local Claude and Anthropic folders.
