Description

The Claude desktop app opens but the main content area is completely blank/black. Only the left sidebar renders. The issue started after an automatic update.

Environment

  • App version: 1.6259.1
  • macOS version: macOS 16 (Darwin 25.2.0)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude desktop app
  2. Main content area is blank — sidebar is visible but the chat/main panel does not render

What I tried

  • Cleared GPU cache, Dawn cache, Code Cache
  • Launched with --disable-gpu flag
  • Launched with --ignore-gpu-blocklist --disable-gpu
  • Launched with --use-gl=swiftshader --disable-software-rasterizer
  • Reset window state (window-state.json had off-screen coordinates from a disconnected external monitor)
  • Reset webview storage (Partitions, Local Storage, Session Storage, IndexedDB)
  • Full uninstall and clean reinstall

None of the above resolved the issue.

Expected behavior

The main chat interface should render on launch.

Workaround

Using claude.ai in the browser and the claude CLI as alternatives.
