Fix Action

Fix / Workaround

Workaround: Locking the C5 to 60Hz stops the blanking, but 144Hz triggers the loop. Additional notes: HDR is disabled on the C5 No other applications cause this behavior on the C5 Appears to be a refresh-rate negotiation issue specific to high-refresh OLED displays

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The Claude Windows desktop app triggers repeated display blanking when the app window is moved to my primary display (LG C5 OLED) running at 144Hz. The display blanks for ~15 seconds, recovers, then blanks again in a continuous loop.

Environment: App version: Claude 1.7196.0 OS: Windows 11 GPU: ASUS RTX 5070 Ti GPU driver version: 591.86 Primary display: LG 42" C5 OLED, 4K 144Hz via HDMI 2.1 Secondary displays: Samsung 4K, LG ultrawide 3440x1440 (all on same GPU)

Launch Claude desktop app on secondary display (LG ultrawide) — works fine Drag app window onto LG C5 OLED primary display Display blanks within seconds, recovers after ~15s, repeats indefinitely Drag window back off C5 — blanking stops immediately

What Should Happen?

I would expect the Claude app to not cause my monitor to flicker.
