Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Environment:

  • Desktop app version: [Claude 1.5354.0 (9a9e3d) 2026-04-29T01:14:34.000Z]
  • Operating system: Macbook Pro M5 PRo [Macos 26.4.1 (25E253)]
  • Location: Durban, South Africa

Issue: I received an email confirming my seat was upgraded to include Claude Code access, but the Code tab is not appearing in my desktop app. Only Chat and Cowork tabs are visible.

Steps taken:

  1. Updated to the latest desktop app from https://claude.com/download
  2. Completely quit and restarted the app multiple times
  3. Signed out and back in from the app menu
  4. Deleted and reinstalled the app
  5. Waited [20 hours/days] since receiving the upgrade email

Additional context:

  • I'm the only user in my organization who received this upgrade
  • I need Claude Code access for work urgently
  • The upgrade email confirmed I should have access to Claude Code

What Should Happen?

After receiving the seat upgrade email and signing into the Claude desktop app, the Code tab should appear at the top center of the app alongside the Chat and Cowork tabs. When clicking the Code tab for the first time, it should either: Open directly to start a new session, or Prompt to complete sign-in online (if needed), after which restarting the app should grant access The Code tab should be immediately accessible without waiting for a gradual rollout period, since the seat upgrade confirms access rights have been granted

Error Messages/Logs

No error messages are displayed. The Code tab simply does not appear in the desktop app interface. Only the Chat and Cowork tabs are visible at the top of the app.

Steps to Reproduce

For the "Steps to Reproduce" section, write: Steps to Reproduce: Receive email confirmation that seat was upgraded to include Claude Code access Download the latest Claude Desktop app from https://claude.com/download Install and launch the app Sign in with account credentials ([email protected]) Check the top of the app interface for available tabs Actual Result: Only Chat and Cowork tabs appear at the top of the app. The Code tab is missing. Additional steps attempted: Completely quit the app (not just closed) and restarted multiple times Signed out from app menu and signed back in Deleted the app completely and reinstalled from scratch Waited [X hours/days] since receiving upgrade confirmation Verified running latest app version from Help → About Context: Only user in organization with this upgrade No error messages displayed App functions normally otherwise (Chat and Cowork tabs work)

extent analysis

TL;DR

The most likely fix is to verify the account's access rights and ensure the Claude Code feature is enabled for the user's organization.

Guidance

  • Check the organization's settings to confirm that the Claude Code feature is enabled and the user's account has the necessary permissions.
  • Verify that the upgrade email was legitimate and the account's access rights have been updated correctly.
  • Try signing in to the web version of Claude to see if the Code tab is accessible, which can help determine if the issue is specific to the desktop app.
  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the organization's administrator or Claude's support team to investigate further.

Notes

The issue may be related to a delay in syncing the account's access rights or a configuration issue with the organization's settings. Without more information about the organization's settings and the account's permissions, it's difficult to provide a more specific solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Try signing in to the web version of Claude to access the Code tab, and if successful, contact the organization's administrator or Claude's support team to resolve the desktop app issue.
