What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.415.1938.0

What subscription do you have?

plus

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

When opening or creating a project in Codex Desktop, there is no option for WSL, and the file manager cannot open WSL directories. I would like it to be able to open WSL directories, just like applications such as opencode opencode desktop: <img width="416" height="741" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/fe6cf70e-df4e-431d-8e3c-814b80c4de7d" />

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Uploaded thread: a766a8e4-d37b-4c68-8668-0fcb9d6ca6ea

What is the expected behavior?

I would like the File Explorer window to display the WSL directory directly when creating or starting a project, just as shown in the screenshot of OpenCode Desktop included in the issue description.

Additional information

I’d like Codex Desktop to offer a direct code preview. It doesn’t need to be as sophisticated as VS Code or IntelliJ IDEA, but it should at least allow us to clearly see which parts of the code in the project have been modified.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be resolved by enabling WSL support in Codex Desktop, potentially through a configuration change or update.

Guidance

  • Check if WSL support is available in the Codex Desktop settings or preferences, and enable it if possible.
  • Verify that the WSL directories are properly configured and accessible on the Windows system.
  • Consider checking for updates to the Codex App, as the issue may be resolved in a later version.
  • If the issue persists, try comparing the configuration and settings between Codex Desktop and OpenCode Desktop to identify any differences.

Example

No code snippet is provided as the issue is related to application configuration and functionality.

Notes

The issue may be specific to the version of Codex Desktop being used (26.415.1938.0), and updating to a later version may resolve the issue. Additionally, the functionality of WSL support may vary between different applications, such as OpenCode Desktop and Codex Desktop.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Check for updates to the Codex App and enable WSL support if available, as this may resolve the issue without requiring significant changes to the application or system configuration.
