What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.426.12240

What subscription do you have?

Third-party provider (aihubmix)

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.0.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

In Codex desktop, MCP tools are unusable. As soon as an MCP tool is invoked, the tool call ends immediately instead of running normally. This makes MCP-based workflows impossible to use. Non-MCP behavior appears normal, but every MCP invocation fails in the same way.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Open Codex desktop. Start a normal conversation in a workspace. Ask the agent to use any MCP tool. The moment the MCP tool is invoked, the tool call ends immediately. This happens consistently across repeated attempts.

What is the expected behavior?

TL;DR

The issue with MCP tools in Codex desktop may be related to a version or compatibility problem, and checking the integration settings or updating the Codex App could potentially resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • Verify that the MCP tools are properly configured and enabled in the Codex desktop settings.
  • Check the Codex App version (26.426.12240) for any known issues or updates related to MCP tool integration.
  • Test MCP tools in a different workspace or conversation to isolate the issue.
  • Consider reaching out to the third-party provider (aihubmix) for assistance with MCP tool configuration or compatibility.

Notes

The issue may be specific to the Darwin 25.0.0 arm64 arm platform or the third-party provider's configuration, which could limit the applicability of potential solutions.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Try updating the Codex App to the latest version or checking with the third-party provider for any known issues or configuration recommendations, as the current version (26.426.12240) may have compatibility problems with MCP tools.
