What happened?

On the Codex Desktop app for macOS Intel, the conversation page shows a translucent white/gray overlay or mask layer below the chat composer/input box.

The artifact appears directly underneath the rounded composer at the bottom of the conversation view. It looks like a backdrop/shadow layer is not clipped correctly, leaving a semi-transparent rectangular layer below the input area.

This was observed in light mode. The issue is visual, but it makes the bottom of the conversation page look like it has an extra mask layer.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Codex Desktop on macOS Intel.
  2. Open any conversation page.
  3. Look at the bottom composer/input area.
  4. Observe the translucent overlay/mask extending below the composer.

Expected behavior

The chat composer should render without an extra translucent layer underneath it. Any shadow/backdrop effect should be clipped to the intended composer bounds.

Actual behavior

A large semi-transparent white/gray layer appears below the composer, resembling an incorrectly rendered or unclipped mask/backdrop layer.

Environment

  • App: Codex Desktop
  • Codex version: 26.519.41501
  • Codex build: 3044
  • macOS: 12.5.1 (21G83)
  • Architecture: x86_64
  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz
  • Theme: light mode

Notes

A screenshot was available in the original user report, showing the composer with the abnormal translucent layer directly below it. This issue was filed from the Codex environment, so the screenshot is not attached here.
