What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.4.0 arm64 MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021), Apple M1 Max, 32 GB RAM macOS Tahoe 26.5

What issue are you seeing?

My Codex desktop pet suddenly started rendering much larger than before on macOS.

What I checked:

  • The pet package itself appears normal and unchanged.
  • Restarting Codex did not fix it.
  • Clearing render-related caches did not fix it.
  • This does not appear to be a broken pet asset.

Environment:

  • Codex Desktop: 26.513.20950
  • macOS: Tahoe 26.5
  • Hardware: MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021), Apple M1 Max, 32 GB RAM
  • Platform: Darwin 25.4.0 arm64

Expected behavior:

  • The pet should render at its previous normal visual size.

Actual behavior:

  • The pet renders significantly larger than expected inside the Codex app window.

Additional context: This looks more like a desktop app rendering/layout regression than a pet package issue. Based on investigation, the final visible pet size seems to be controlled by the desktop app frontend/container layout rather than the pet package itself.

I can provide a screenshot if needed.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open Codex Desktop on macOS.
  2. Use a custom pet that was previously rendering at a normal size.
  3. Observe the pet in the Codex window after app restart / normal usage.
  4. Fully quit and relaunch Codex.
  5. Observe that the pet still renders significantly larger than before.

I also tried clearing Codex render-related caches and relaunching, but the issue remained.

What is the expected behavior?

The pet should render at its previous normal visual size inside the Codex app window.

Restarting the app or refreshing app state should not cause the pet to become visibly oversized.

Additional information

This appears to be a desktop app rendering/layout issue rather than a broken pet asset.

What I checked:

  • The pet package itself appears normal and unchanged.
  • Restarting Codex did not fix it.
  • Clearing render-related caches did not fix it.
  • The issue still happens after a full app relaunch.

Environment:

  • Codex Desktop: 26.513.20950
  • macOS: Tahoe 26.5
  • Hardware: MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021), Apple M1 Max, 32 GB RAM
