Linux 5.15.0-174-generic x86_64 x86_64

What terminal emulator and version are you using (if applicable)?

linux terminal (default)

What issue are you seeing?

I was starting to work and i didn't try 5.5 model until today. i wrote first prompt "hello bro", model answered and i did command /clear. terminal window cleared and i did look at other screen to prepare other stuff to start coding and then i saw terminal with codex flicker and when i looked back 5h limit was on 93% and all i did when i started codex was "hello bro" and /clear. I am not writing to reset my limits or anything like that, but to fix this bug if you can find out what happened there

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue may be related to the /clear command causing unexpected behavior with the Codex CLI, potentially leading to rapid consumption of the 5-hour limit.

Guidance

  • Investigate the implementation of the /clear command in the Codex CLI to understand its expected behavior and potential side effects.
  • Review the uploaded thread (019dc3bf-069f-70d0-b853-9fe0c88d54c3) for more detailed information on the bug reproduction steps.
  • Test the /clear command with different models and prompts to see if the issue is specific to the gpt-5.5 model or a more general problem.
  • Consider reaching out to the Codex CLI support team for further assistance, as the issue may be related to a bug in the CLI itself.

Notes

The provided information is limited, and without more details on the Codex CLI's internal workings or the uploaded thread's contents, it's challenging to provide a more specific solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Avoid using the /clear command until the issue is resolved, or test alternative methods to clear the terminal that do not involve the Codex CLI's command.
