What's Wrong?

Created scheduled task in Cowork, clicked Run now, status stuck on In progress indefinitely. Waited 10+ min. Closed/reopened app, recreated task - same result. Windows 11 Build 26100.8117.

What Should Happen?

Scheduled task should run to completion and show a final status (success/fail) within a reasonable time.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Cowork on Windows 11.
  2. Create a new scheduled task.
  3. Click "Run now".
  4. Observe status: "In progress" indefinitely (waited 10+ minutes).
  5. Close and reopen the app - status persists or task never completes.
  6. Delete and recreate task - same result.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue might be related to the task execution mechanism in Cowork, and verifying the task's configuration and dependencies could help resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • Review the scheduled task configuration to ensure it is correctly set up and all required dependencies are met.
  • Check if there are any background processes or system resources that could be blocking the task from completing.
  • Attempt to run the task with a simplified configuration to isolate if the issue is specific to the task's settings.
  • Consider testing the task on a different system or environment to determine if the issue is specific to the current Windows 11 setup.

Example

No specific code example can be provided without more information on the task's configuration and dependencies.

Notes

The lack of error messages or logs makes it challenging to pinpoint the exact cause, and further investigation into the task's execution and system environment is necessary.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Attempt to simplify the task configuration and test it on a different system to isolate the issue, as the root cause is currently unclear.
