What issue are you seeing?

Summary

Credits were successfully added and visible (~2300 total), then later disappeared completely, dropping to 0 without any corresponding usage records after April 8, 2026.

Environment

  • Interface: Codex Web UI and OpenCode
  • Auth: ChatGPT Plus account
  • Model: GPT-5.4
  • Codex CLI version: 0.120.0
  • Account: same account/email used for payment
  • Payment source: official OpenAI billing (pay.openai.com)

Payment history

I have confirmed successful payments in this same account:

  • Invoice W4NJAXQX-0002 — March 31, 2026 — $40 for 1,000 credits
  • Invoice W4NJAXQX-0003 — April 18, 2026 — $40 for 1,000 credits

After the April 18 payment, I observed my total credits increase to approximately 2300+ credits.

Actual behavior

  • Credit balance now shows 0
  • Usage history only shows activity up to April 8, 2026
  • No usage entries appear after April 8
  • There is no visible record explaining how the credits were consumed
  • The issue is visible both in the Codex web UI and in OpenCode
  • The usage history appears frozen or desynchronized

Expected behavior

  • Credits purchased on March 31 and April 18 should remain unless consumed
  • If credits were consumed, usage history should show deductions after April 18
  • Credit balance and usage history should match
  • The dashboard should clearly show where credits were used
  • The system should not show 0 credits without corresponding usage logs

Why this seems like a bug

  • Credits were successfully purchased and temporarily visible
  • They later dropped to 0
  • There are no usage records after April 8 explaining the deduction

The absence of any usage records after the credits were added makes it impossible that the credits were consumed normally.

This suggests one of the following:

  1. Backend credit ledger / synchronization issue
  2. Missing or incomplete usage records
  3. Incorrect credit accounting
  4. Mismatch between billing system and Codex usage system

This behavior is observed across both Codex Web UI and OpenCode, suggesting it is not limited to a single interface.

Impact

  • Impossible to verify whether credits were used or lost
  • Loss of visibility into billing and usage
  • Reduced trust in credit accounting
  • Potential financial discrepancy (paid credits no longer visible)

Additional Evidence (Codex CLI /status)

Running /status shows:

  • Correct account (Plus subscription)
  • Usage limits present but flagged as "may be stale"
  • No credit balance information available

Example:

  • 5h limit: 35% left
  • Weekly limit: 2% left
  • Warning: "limits may be stale"

This suggests system state (limits + credits) may be out of sync across services.

Request

Please help determine whether this is:

  • a Codex backend credit accounting issue
  • a usage history tracking/display bug
  • a billing ledger synchronization issue

I can provide additional logs or details if needed.
