What is the issue?

Hello, the Ollama team. I am describing to you my problem when installing Ollama. On my ubuntu operating system version 24.04.3, the screen resolution decreases from 1920 by 1080 pixels, after rebooting, immediately by 1024 by 768 pixels. Could you fix this issue?

In the following, I describe the hardware and technical specification on which Ollama was installed. For your understanding of the problem.

  1. Motherboard - Asrock Z270 Killer SLI;
  2. Processor - Intel Core i7-7700K;
  3. Video card - NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB;
  4. RAM - 2 DDR4 memory cubes, each with a volume (of cubes) 32 gigabytes each with a speed of 2667 megatransfers per second, both dies synchronized;
  5. Operating system - Kubuntu version 24.04.3 (with BASh "on board");
  6. One SSD disk with a working/active capacity of 350 gigabytes. This disk contains the above-mentioned operating system (folders "/boot/efi" and root, which is "/'')';
  7. One HDD with the "/home" partition, which has a current capacity of approximately 1300 gigabytes. The swap partition of the above-mentioned operating system is located on the same HDD, the partition has about 280-290 gigabytes.;

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue with the screen resolution decreasing after rebooting may be related to the graphics driver or display settings, and checking the NVIDIA driver configuration and Xorg settings could help resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • Verify that the NVIDIA graphics driver is properly installed and configured for the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.
  • Check the Xorg configuration files (e.g., /etc/X11/xorg.conf) to ensure that the correct screen resolution is set.
  • Investigate if there are any issues with the display settings in the Kubuntu operating system, such as incorrect monitor configuration or graphics mode.
  • Consider reinstalling or updating the NVIDIA graphics driver to the latest version compatible with the Ollama version 0.20.4.

Example

No specific code snippet can be provided without more information about the Xorg configuration or NVIDIA driver settings.

Notes

The issue may be specific to the Kubuntu operating system version 24.04.3 or the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, and further investigation is needed to determine the root cause.

Recommendation

Apply a workaround by checking and adjusting the NVIDIA driver configuration and Xorg settings, as this is a more targeted approach to resolving the issue without upgrading the Ollama version.
