The Feature

Adding model retirement tracking on LiteLLM.

  • Display model retirement/deprecation dates in a dedicated column or metadata field (e.g. Claude Sonnet 4 - Retires on June 15, 2026).
  • Surface proactive notifications to admins when a model is nearing retirement.
  • Support configurable alerts via UI notifications, email, or webhooks.
  • Allow alert thresholds such as 90/60/30 days before retirement.
  • Help admins identify deprecated or soon-to-be-retired models currently in use.
  • Enable easier migration planning to replacement models before cutoff dates.
  • Optionally mark retired models as deprecated/unsupported in the dashboard.
  • Provide automated cleanup or disable options for retired models if desired.

Motivation, pitch

Improve operational reliability by preventing unexpected model shutdowns or API failures due to retired providers and models.
