Root Cause

This bug should be called 'ghost of claude code' because this exact behavior has also been happening in claude code (I understand different product) but it is INSANE to suddenly have this same bugginess pop up in CODEX after switching a few days ago

What issue are you seeing?

While interacting with the model with the model generating output -- the codex app view randomly scrolls up to weird older points in the chat history.

I switched to codex a few days ago and this never happened until the most recent update. This is the kind of super annoying UI glitch which I've been getting super annoyed with while using claude code terminal the last few months -- and I was super happy not to experience this in codex -- tho my happiness is now short lived!

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Uploaded thread: 019dd576-6594-70b1-9371-aab6dbf9de56

Just normal interaction with the model in a project chat

What is the expected behavior?

That while chatting with the model the scroll position of the view behaviors in a non-insane manner

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be mitigated by reporting the problem to the Codex App developers with the provided thread ID for further investigation.

Guidance

  • The problem seems to be related to the recent update of the Codex App, as it started occurring after the update.
  • To help the developers identify the issue, provide them with the thread ID (019dd576-6594-70b1-9371-aab6dbf9de56) for further analysis.
  • Check if other users are experiencing similar issues to determine if it's an isolated problem or a widespread bug.
  • Consider reaching out to the Codex App support team for additional assistance or temporary workarounds.

Notes

The issue seems to be related to the UI and scrolling behavior, but without more technical details, it's difficult to provide a specific fix. The fact that this issue has occurred in another product (Claude Code) suggests that it might be a more complex problem.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Report the issue to the Codex App developers and provide the thread ID for further investigation, as this will help them identify and potentially fix the problem in a future update.
