Environment:

  • macOS 26.3.1
  • Python 3.14.3 (system) / 3.11.15 (Hermes venv)
  • Apple Silicon M4
  • Hermes v0.12.0
  • Provider: tested both Gemini and OpenRouter

Symptoms:

  • API connectivity check passes (curl works)
  • Hermes starts, banner displays
  • Logs show "Vision auto-detect: using main provider X"
  • After 5x vision auto-detect lines, no further log entries
  • TUI/CLI hangs indefinitely with no LLM call

Logs end at "Vision auto-detect" with no API request log line. No errors, just silence.
