What happened?

I am using the CLI in one terminal window. Not even using multiple terminal windows. I am doing one single task. The CLI hung indefinitely, so I did CTRL+C to kill it in order to try again. When I started it back up I got this:

Failed to sign in. Message: <html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/><title>Sorry...</title><style> body { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; background-color: #fff; color: #000; │ │ }</style></head><body><div><table><tr><td><b><font face=sans-serif size=10><font color=#4285f4>G</font><font color=#ea4335>o</font><font color=#fbbc05>o</font><font color=#4285f4>g</font><font color=#34a853>l</font><font │ │ color=#ea4335>e</font></font></b></td><td style="text-align: left; vertical-align: bottom; padding-bottom: 15px; width: 50%"><div style="border-bottom: 1px solid #dfdfdf;">Sorry...</div></td></tr></table></div><div │ │ style="margin-left: 4em;"><h1>We're sorry...</h1><p>... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. Tried to SSO in again, same thing.

What did you expect to happen?

To be able to use the thing I paid for.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The user is likely experiencing a temporary block from Google due to suspected automated queries, and a workaround is needed to resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • The error message suggests that Google is blocking the request due to suspected automated queries, which may be triggered by the CLI's behavior after being interrupted with CTRL+C.
  • Try waiting for some time before attempting to sign in again, as the block may be temporary.
  • Consider checking the Google Help page linked in the error message for more information on how to resolve the issue.
  • If the issue persists, try resetting the CLI's configuration or seeking assistance from the CLI's support team.

Notes

The exact cause of the issue is unclear, but it appears to be related to Google's automated query detection. The user's version of the CLI (0.37) may also be a factor, but without more information, it's difficult to determine.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Wait for some time before attempting to sign in again and check the Google Help page for more information, as the issue may be temporary and related to Google's automated query detection.
