What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.442.30944

What subscription do you have?

pro 5x

What platform is your computer?

windows

What issue are you seeing?

an unexpected bug just happened... I have a 5x pro plan and yesterday I paid $10 to use the 5.5 API in the Codex CLI. I used it once and it consumed $4, then I went back to using the Codex app normally for 12 hours, and a little while ago my Codex stopped responding, saying I exceeded the quota limit. It automatically switched the usage to the API, and now even with the limit I can't use it... Can you help me? Here's the link to the ticket I opened. 019dbbb1-d9e5-7c12-b713-5d2f99a578c8

What steps can reproduce the bug?

I am unable,

What is the expected behavior?

It was expected that at least the Codex app would ask me if I wanted to switch to the API key and not use my credits for me.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue may be resolved by checking the quota limit and usage of the 5.5 API in the Codex CLI, as the unexpected switch to API usage and quota limit exceedance suggest a potential misconfiguration or unexpected usage pattern.

Guidance

  • Review the usage history and quota limits for the 5.5 API in the Codex CLI to understand how the $4 was consumed and what triggered the switch to API usage.
  • Verify the current usage and limits in the Codex App and CLI to ensure they are aligned with the expected behavior and subscription plan.
  • Check if there are any settings or options to control or prompt for switching between the Codex App and API usage, as the expected behavior suggests a preference for user confirmation.
  • Investigate if the $10 payment for 5.5 API usage is correctly applied and reflected in the account settings and usage tracking.

Notes

The issue seems to involve a complex interaction between the Codex App, CLI, and subscription plans, and without more detailed information about the usage patterns, settings, and account configuration, it's challenging to provide a definitive solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Review and adjust the usage settings and limits for the 5.5 API in the Codex CLI to prevent unexpected quota limit exceedance and ensure alignment with the expected behavior and subscription plan.
