Today, a developer can give Codex instructions in chat or rely on persistent guidance for broad rules: setup commands, code style, testing conventions, and general operating preferences.
But many real development tasks are not single-step instructions. They are repeatable processes:

Proposal: User-Defined Codex Workflows
Workflows are user-authored agent procedures that Codex can run as named, repeatable processes.
A workflow lets a user describe not just the outcome they want, but the process Codex should follow to get there. Instead of asking Codex to improvise from a single prompt, the user can invoke a predefined procedure for work such as fixing bugs, implementing features, reviewing code, preparing releases, running migrations, or coordinating multi-step production work.
For example:

The core idea:

Origin of the Idea
This proposal comes from a pattern that appears after using Codex for real multi-step work: the user starts repeating the same prompt sequences.
