As a senior engineer managing Dify deployments in a high-concurrency (500+ users) government cloud environment, I’ve been closely following the development of the feat/support-agent-sandbox branch and the 1.14.0-rc1 release. The Skill Editor, Sandboxed Runtime, and Inline @ tool calling presented in rc1 felt like the "future of Dify agents" and were highly anticipated for our production workflows.

However, in the official v1.14.0 release, while "Collaboration" was successfully merged, the core "Skill Editor" ecosystem seems to have been omitted. This creates a technical dilemma for us: should we invest in the current MCP/Plugin architecture, or wait for the native Skill Editor to land in the main branch?

2. Describe the solution you'd like

We would like clarity on the official roadmap regarding:

  1. Is the Skill Editor from rc1 still planned for the main branch?
  2. If so, what is the estimated timeline (e.g., v1.15 or v1.16)?
  3. Will the current Plugin/MCP implementation be compatible with the future Skill Editor?

3. Additional context

The "Skill Editor" offered a low-friction, integrated DX for quick logic orchestration that is hard to replace with external MCP servers for certain internal lightweight tasks.

2. Additional context or comments

extent analysis

TL;DR

The user needs clarification on the roadmap for the Skill Editor feature, which was present in the 1.14.0-rc1 release but missing in the official v1.14.0 release.

Guidance

  • Review the official release notes and changelogs for v1.14.0 to understand the reasons behind the Skill Editor's omission.
  • Check the project's issue tracker and discussion forums for any updates or comments from the development team regarding the Skill Editor's status.
  • Consider reaching out to the project maintainers or contributors directly to request more information on the Skill Editor's roadmap and compatibility with the current Plugin/MCP implementation.

Notes

The issue lacks technical details about the Skill Editor's implementation or specific errors, making it difficult to provide a more detailed solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Wait for an official response from the project maintainers or contributors regarding the Skill Editor's roadmap before investing in the current MCP/Plugin architecture.
