What happened?

Hello,

I am writing to request support for a Gemini CLI access issue on one of my Google accounts.

I have an active Google AI Pro / Gemini Pro subscription on this account, but Gemini CLI returns 403 PERMISSION_DENIED for every request when I sign in with Google.

Important details:

  • Google AI Pro / Gemini Pro is already active on this account
  • Gemini CLI works correctly on another Google account in the same environment
  • Only this specific account fails
  • The same machine, same client, and same network are being used
  • This strongly suggests an account-level permission / entitlement issue rather than a local configuration problem

Error details:

What I need help with:

  1. Please confirm whether Gemini CLI access is enabled for this account
  2. Please check whether the account is missing Gemini CLI entitlement, quota provisioning, or backend permission
  3. If it is not enabled, please manually enable Gemini CLI access for this account
  4. If this is a backend account issue, please escalate and repair it

Account information:

  • Subscription: Google AI Pro / Gemini Pro

Environment:

  • OS: Windows
  • Authentication method: Sign in with Google
  • Gemini CLI version: 0.39.0

Additional notes:

  • Gemini Web/App access is available
  • Another Google account works normally with Gemini CLI in the same environment
  • This issue appears to affect only this one subscribed account

I can provide the following if needed:

  • Subscription screenshot
  • 403 error screenshot
  • CLI debug output
  • /about output
  • version information

Since another account works correctly in the exact same environment, I believe this is specifically an account entitlement issue and would appreciate manual review.

Please help enable or repair Gemini CLI entitlement/access for this account.

Thank you.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue is likely due to a missing Gemini CLI entitlement or permission for the specific Google account, and manual review and enablement of Gemini CLI access are required.

Guidance

  • Verify the account's subscription status and entitlements to ensure Gemini CLI access is enabled.
  • Check the account's quota provisioning and backend permissions to identify any potential issues.
  • Provide the requested information, such as subscription screenshot, 403 error screenshot, CLI debug output, and /about output, to facilitate manual review.
  • Consider escalating the issue to the relevant team for further investigation and repair of the account-level permission issue.

Notes

The issue appears to be account-specific, and the fact that another Google account works correctly in the same environment suggests that the problem is not related to the local configuration or environment.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Manual review and enablement of Gemini CLI access for the affected account, as it is likely that the account is missing the necessary entitlement or permission.
