Hermes Agent is essentially a plagiarized and rebranded product. Its core self-evolution architecture, 10-step main loop, module workflow and logical design are highly identical to the open-source Evolver engine from the Chinese team EvoMap.

It only systematically replaced terminology, copied the overall framework and core logic, but gave zero citation, zero reference and zero acknowledgment to the original project in all public documents and materials.

This is typical architecture-level copying and intellectual property appropriation, violating the basic open-source ethics and attribution rules. Such a project should not be hyped or recommended.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The Hermes Agent project may need to address potential intellectual property and attribution issues related to its similarity to the Evolver engine.

Guidance

  • Review the licensing and attribution requirements of the Evolver engine to understand the obligations for using or deriving from its architecture and logic.
  • Investigate the possibility of adding proper citations, references, and acknowledgments to the original Evolver engine project in Hermes Agent's public documents and materials.
  • Consider reaching out to the EvoMap team to discuss potential collaboration, licensing, or attribution agreements.
  • Evaluate the legal and ethical implications of the current situation and consider seeking professional advice to ensure compliance with open-source ethics and intellectual property laws.

Notes

The issue at hand is more related to ethical and legal considerations rather than a technical problem, so the guidance provided is focused on addressing these aspects.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Add proper citations, references, and acknowledgments to the original Evolver engine project, as this is a crucial step in resolving the intellectual property and attribution concerns.
