What Should Happen?

I should expect to see a more normalized rate of consutmption of tokens like i experienced on the prior days Hypothesis:

Expected behavior: A fresh session on Max subscription should start with a full session token budget, not a pre-exhausted one.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be temporarily mitigated by investigating the usage limit counter reset mechanism and ensuring it correctly resets between sessions, possibly by manually resetting the counter or adjusting the billing/limit tracking configuration.

Guidance

  • Investigate the usage limit counter reset mechanism to determine why it's not resetting correctly between sessions.
  • Review the billing/limit tracking configuration to ensure it's not over-counting consumption.
  • Test the session limit with a minimal input to see if the issue persists and to gather more information about the problem.
  • Consider reaching out to the development team or support for further assistance, as this issue appears to be a regression and may require a fix on their end.

Example

No code snippet is provided as the issue seems to be related to the internal workings of the Claude Code system and its interaction with the Anthropics API.

Notes

The provided information suggests that the issue started after the April 15 outage, indicating a potential correlation between the outage and the problem. However, without more detailed logs or error messages, it's challenging to provide a definitive solution.

Recommendation

Apply a workaround by manually monitoring and potentially adjusting the usage limit counter or billing/limit tracking configuration until a permanent fix is available from the development team.
