Problem Statement

Hi team,

I'd like to request support for customizable keyboard shortcuts in the Claude Code terminal input box, specifically the ability to use Shift+Enter for newline/line break instead of the current Control+J.

Current behavior: The only way to insert a newline in the Claude Code input box is by pressing Control+J.

Expected behavior: Shift+Enter should also work as a newline shortcut, as this is the more intuitive and widely adopted convention across most modern chat interfaces (e.g., Slack, Teams, ChatGPT).

What I've tried: I attempted to remap Shift+Enter to Control+J using Karabiner-Elements on macOS. While the remapping works correctly in other applications, Claude Code captures keyboard input directly and bypasses the remapping, so Shift+Enter still does not work as a newline in the input box.

Why this matters: Shift+Enter is a much more natural and ergonomic shortcut for line breaks, especially for users coming from other chat tools. Supporting it would significantly improve the daily user experience.

Thank you for considering this request!
