Root Cause

This matters because mobile is now part of the Codex workflow, especially when users start, monitor, or resume Codex tasks from an iPhone/iPad. Without usage visibility, users can accidentally start large tasks when their quota is already low, or may not understand why Codex suddenly becomes unavailable.

Feature request

Please add Codex usage balance visibility to the mobile Codex experience / ChatGPT mobile app.

Problem

On mobile, it is currently difficult to quickly check the remaining Codex plan usage before starting or continuing a task. Users need clear visibility into both major Codex quota windows:

  • Remaining 5-hour rolling limit
  • Remaining weekly limit
  • Reset time for each limit

This matters because mobile is now part of the Codex workflow, especially when users start, monitor, or resume Codex tasks from an iPhone/iPad. Without usage visibility, users can accidentally start large tasks when their quota is already low, or may not understand why Codex suddenly becomes unavailable.

Expected behavior

The mobile Codex UI should expose the same kind of usage information available from the web usage page, ideally in an easy-to-find place such as:

  • Codex mobile settings
  • Codex task/session screen
  • Account / plan usage page inside the mobile app

At minimum, please show:

  • 5-hour limit remaining percentage or amount
  • Weekly limit remaining percentage or amount
  • Reset time / next refresh time
  • A warning when one of the limits is close to being exhausted

Why this is important

Codex users, especially Plus/Pro users, need transparent plan usage information across all surfaces. If mobile can start or resume Codex work, it should also show the relevant usage balance before the user spends that quota.

This would make Codex mobile more predictable, reduce confusion around rate limits, and help users manage their plan usage more responsibly.
