I know it should be the developers responsibility to use git to manage work saved or created but gemini cli would help a lot of it managed git especially with the /rewind command.

For example perhaps making a git worktree or branch of the current status incase one rewinds incorrectly and can easily restore saved work.

Why is this needed?

To avoid mistakenly losing valuable work when rewinding
