What issue are you seeing?

The Codex VS Code extension chat input does not appear to use native spell check.

It would be helpful if the chat textarea/input enabled spell checking, for example with spellcheck="true", so typos are caught before sending prompts.

This is especially useful for longer prompts, issue descriptions, and product/spec writing inside Codex.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open VS Code with the Codex extension installed and enabled.
  2. Open the Codex chat panel / Codex sidebar.
  3. Click into the Codex chat input box.
  4. Type a sentence with an obvious spelling mistake, for example: “Please refactor this fucntion and explain the chnages.”
  5. Observe that the misspelled words are not underlined or flagged by spell check.
  6. For comparison, type the same sentence into a normal VS Code Markdown or text file where spell check is enabled.
  7. Observe that spell check works in the editor file, but not in the Codex chat input box.
