What happened?

Hello,

Since this morning we're receiving this message when trying to use Gemini Code Assist (IDE plugin + CLI).

We're an enterprise and we're using a VPN to access GCA. Without active VPN we don't experience this issue. <img width="3258" height="820" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/5979fb31-57d2-4f30-a9da-e9312db2bd13" />

So with ou internal network or active VPN we encounter this issue. When using remotely without VPN no issue detected.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue with Gemini Code Assist (GCA) login is likely related to the enterprise VPN configuration, and temporarily disabling the VPN or configuring it to allow GCA traffic may resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • Verify that the VPN is properly configured to allow traffic to the GCA servers, as the issue only occurs when the VPN is active.
  • Check the VPN's firewall rules and ensure that they are not blocking the GCA login requests.
  • Test the GCA login with a different network configuration, such as a mobile hotspot, to isolate the issue to the VPN or internal network.
  • Consider reaching out to the enterprise IT department to review the VPN configuration and ensure it is compatible with GCA.

Notes

The issue seems to be specific to the enterprise network and VPN configuration, and more information about the VPN setup and firewall rules may be necessary to provide a definitive solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Temporarily disable the VPN or configure it to allow GCA traffic, as this is likely to resolve the issue and allow for further investigation into the root cause.
