On Windows, after using Computer Use in the Codex desktop app, the system cursor becomes completely invisible when Computer Use ends. Mouse input still works, and clicking is still possible, but the pointer cannot be seen. This happens every time after using Computer Use.

Root Cause

This affects the whole Windows desktop after Computer Use ends, not only the Codex app. The machine remains usable, but it is difficult to operate because the pointer is invisible until Windows is rebooted.

Summary

On Windows, after using Computer Use in the Codex desktop app, the system cursor becomes completely invisible when Computer Use ends. Mouse input still works, and clicking is still possible, but the pointer cannot be seen. This happens every time after using Computer Use.

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11 Home
  • Windows version: 25H2
  • OS build: 26200.8457
  • Windows Feature Experience Pack: 1000.26100.304.0
  • Product: Codex desktop app
  • Codex app version: 26.527.31326
  • Feature/plugin: Computer Use
  • Date observed: 2026-05-30

Actual behavior

The Windows system cursor disappears completely after Computer Use ends.

Mouse input still works: I can move the mouse and click, but the cursor is invisible.

This happens every time after using Computer Use.

Recovery attempts

  • Restarting the Codex app does not restore the cursor.
  • Rebooting Windows restores the cursor.
  • I have not confirmed whether signing out of Windows restores it.

Impact

This affects the whole Windows desktop after Computer Use ends, not only the Codex app. The machine remains usable, but it is difficult to operate because the pointer is invisible until Windows is rebooted.

Related feature request

Please make Windows Computer Use behave like the macOS version: show a separate Computer Use cursor instead of replacing or interfering with the user's system cursor.

More generally, please align Windows Computer Use behavior with the macOS implementation as closely as possible, especially around cursor handling and user-control separation.

Related issues

This may be loosely related to cursor overlay behavior, but I could not find an existing issue for the Windows system cursor becoming invisible after Computer Use ends.

  • #21303: cursor overlay visibility setting
  • #19305: full Computer Use support for Codex Desktop on Windows1. Open the Codex desktop app on Windows.
  1. Use Computer Use to interact with a Windows app.
  2. Finish or stop Computer Use.
  3. Try to use the mouse normally.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open the Codex desktop app on Windows.
  2. Use Computer Use to interact with a Windows app.
  3. Finish or stop Computer Use.
  4. Try to use the mouse normally.

What is the expected behavior?

The normal Windows system cursor should be restored after Computer Use ends.

Additional information

The cursor is invisible but still functional. I can still click, but I cannot see the pointer. Restarting Codex does not restore it; rebooting Windows does.
